It was sold as the 220SE and was available in a 4-door sedan, a coupe and the cabriolet. It was the last of the “ponton” series cars and was succeeded by the W111, or the “Fintail”. What made the car special was a unitized body/frame construction and fully independent suspension. The engine was the 2.2L straight 6 cylinder with aluminum cylinder head, overhead camshaft and Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The car had a column shift 4 speed manual gearbox with an automatic clutch. This specific car is a very rare 1960 RHD Cabriolet that has been meticulously restored to showroom condition. The car is finished in crème with blue all leather interior. This has been a nut and bolt restoration and the car is truly magnificent. A car for a very discerning buyer who will appreciate German precision engineering from yesteryear combined with a sculptured design. Please take note that all cars can be viewed by appointment only.
