Hatchback affordable car for South Africa – the Geely GC2

After expanding their Emgrand EC7, Geely now have added a better option by making the South Africa’s second cheapest car after Chery QQ3 0.8 TE. It will be a benefit for the South African’s looking for an affordable car.

The new version will be a hi-specced hatch based on the LC, with a 1-litre smaller engine. The GC2 is expected to be an entry level car among the school graduates, varsity and college students and even many youngsters in the initial stage of their work- said by Gareth Azzie, the marketing manager at Geely.


The features are extended to their best and powered by 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine mated to a five speed transmission. The engine comes with 997cc power and delivers an output of 50 kW at 6000 rpm and 88 Nm of torque at 3600 rpm.



 

 

 

Looking at the equipped features the model comes with some attracting features like AC, a four speaker USB/Aux sound system, remote central locking, a full sized spare wheel as well as electric front windows and mirrors as found in the high priced models.


The features move further with including halogen lights, front and rear fog lights, a light interior with dashboard and instrument panel, 4-spoke steering wheel, dual coloured fabric seat covers, rear windscreen wiper with defrosting and demisting, rear door child safety locks, steel rims with 165/60R14 rubber,and at last an onboard fire extinguisher.  


And at last looking at the pricing, the Geely 1? GC2 GB is priced at R89 900 including a 3 year/100 000 km warranty with an optional service plans.
