The all new Mercedes S-Class finally landed in South Africa, providing the Mercedes lovers an option to choose from hybrid version, a petrol version and a diesel version as well as the megalomaniac S63 AMG - each of them limited upto 250km/h.
During one of the recent launching events, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the new W222 S-Class in front of the camera. Not taking much time the S350 Bluetec was drove with an international launch in Canada which was followed by the S63 AMG launching directly after the Frankfurt Show.
And now this week, South Africa is gifted with one more technology lade S-Class from Benz. The company has confirmed the range as well as the price range.
Starting initially the model will be available with 3.0 litre V6 turbodiesel engine giving 190kW/620 Nm and a claimed fuel usage of only 5.9 litres/100 km.
Coming up next is the S400 Hybrid delivering 225 kW + 20 kW/370 Nm with 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine along with an electric motor. While the S500 uses the 4.7 litre biturbo V8 engine capable of developing 335kW/700 Nm.
And the last but not the least from the S-Class S63 will be available with its 5.5 litre biturbo V8 engine challenging its rear tyres grip levels generating 430 kW/900 Nm. You can anticipate S65 AMG to follow the chain within next few month.
You will be provided with some of the eye catching additional facilities like intelligent drive, adaptive highbeam assist plus, night view assist plus, steering assist, BAS plus with cross-traffic assist, pre-safe brakes with pedestrian detection, and active parking assist.
One of the most attracting within S-Class is that it is capable of detecting bumps on the roads ahead with the help of a stereo camera and immediately adapt the suspension to handle the situation. And be noted here that it is the world’s first car with this facility.
