South Africans be ready to tolerate the pain as a petrol hike is expected initially in 2014 itself. The petrol price is all set to raise as said by Automobile Association of SA. This would be a rather shocking gift this new years!!!!!

Graeme Scala said that “A slight improvement is seen in the petrol prices at international levels so far this December. However a relief can be expected from the exchange rates, which is currently at an average rates of R10.20 to the US dollar initially in December but now is seen decreasing with a daily spike to R10.50 on December 6.”

The AA had reviewed the preliminary data which was issued by the Central Energy Fund for the first half of this month. “The average exchange rates has continued to go down and down up to a mark of R10.30 and has been kept as a record in the board under recoveries in the fuel price” said Scala.

Current status states that the diesel rate is probably going to show a hike of 31c per litre and the petrol rate will be seen increasing between 31c and 33c per litre depending on the grade and the most worrying issue is that paraffin at once showed a hike of 39c/litre.

Atlast Scala added that “Unless and until there are no sufficient changes in the exchange rates before the end of this month, SA vehicle owners need to prepare themselves to accept the latest petrol price.”
