Smart fourjoy concept - A car without doors, roof and window

The german carmaker Smart is going to introduce its new Fourjoy concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Smart is the specialised in manufacturing Micro Car. This Smart Fourjoy model will attract visitors for its totally off the wall style. It has an open roof and it does not have any doors and rear window.

The instrument panel of this four seater model uses a honeycomb structure that is made from lightweight and transparent weather resistant thermoplastic. Many design elements are borrowed from its first Smart car which includes tail light, the wheels, short overhangs and the dashboard. The length of this compact car is 3.4 meters, width is 1.9 meters, height is 1.4 meters and the turning circle is of 9.1 meters.

The electric driven Smart uses the 55 kW magneto-electric motor. The capacity of this lithium-ion battery is 17.6 kWh. According to the carmaker, this will take approx seven hours to fully charge the empty battery if charged from household socket. This charging time can be reduced upto less than one hour by using wallbox or public charging station.

Two battery driven skateboards are positioned on the roof of the car which is used to cover short distances in the city. On the skateboards, a high definition camera is attached, riders can also record their trips using this camera. Moreover, you can also find two helmets in this car. These helmets are arranged below the rear seats.

The most attractive features of this car are its front seats and rear bench. According to Smart: “With its organic, sculptural shape, the seats are reminiscent of modern lounge furniture.”

According to Dr Annette Winkler, Head of Smart, “The exterior proportions already reveal a lot about the appearance of our four-seat production smart which will be launched at the end of 2014 and will also enable families to travel together in a smart.”
