SsangYong Turismo MPV on the way to South Africa

Korean car maker Ssangyong Motor has announced that it will introduce Ssangyong Turismo MPV in SA. This seven-seater Turismo will be launched at the Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) which is going to be held during 18-27 October 2013.

 

According to the carmaker, you must have a huge garage to park this big car. This car’s length is greater than five meters and wheelbase is about three meters. There will be 875 liters of cargo space with all three row seats. The third row is completely removable, dropping this row will increase cargo space upto 3146 liters.

The Turismo is powered by 2.0-liter turbocharged e-XDi200 diesel engine. This provides maximum power of 114kW at 4000 RPM and maximum torque up to 360Nm at 2800 RPM. For gearbox there are two choices : one is 6-speed manual gearbox and another is 5-speed T-Tronic automatic gearbox which is currently available in Mercedes-Benz.

electronically controlled door mirrors, a leather covered steering wheel and gear knob, leather furnishings, electronically adjustable driver’s seat, parking sensors at back side, solar controlled glass, water sensitive wipers and Eco cruise control.

 

The Ssangyong Turismo MPV is available in five colors : silver, white, black, wine black and gunmetal grey. Available safety features are Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Active Rollover Protection (ARP), Brake Assist System (BAS) and the dual airbags.

 

No decision has yet been made for selling date and pricing of Turismo. however, insider gossip suggests that it is most likely to be around R277 800 to R360 000. The actual prices for South African Turismo will be announced after JIMS - 2013.
