The second generation Nissan Qashqai revealed

The second generation crossover from Nissan, the Nissan Qashqai is revealed by the Japanese automaker in London with better attractive package, fuel-efficient engines and better interiors. You will find the new Qashqai with size a little bigger than the previous one, but not thoroughly as the height has been reduced by 15mm and length is stretched by 49mm and width by 20mm. The first generation Qashqai is being the most successful model from Nissan to till date.


The fresh Qashqai looks very similar to the new X-Trail from the front end. Nissan has made the model more muscular and more dynamic in terms of styling. All the Nissan models feature LED daytime driving lights, while the luxurious versions get full LED lighting.


Interior Specs:

 

Nissan has provided more space and paid due attention on the comfort by using NASA inspired medical scanning techniques while designing the seats. The leather and Alcantara trim in the top spec models providing the premium feel.   

The five seater interior is made functional with as said above improved storage space for the passengers. Chrome linings can be seen on the steering wheel and the gearshift lever, and also little bit on air-conditioning vents and on the dashboard. The infotainments system comes with seven-inch touchscreen along with a smartphone connectivity.


Other minor changes includes deeper bottle holders, electronic parking brake, a controllable cabin lightning.  


Engine Specs:

 

The new Qashqai is 40kg lighter than the previous version, but the new range of engines are turbocharged across the board.


The new Nissan Qashqai has total four engines with two of them being petrol and the other two being diesel.

New 1.2 litre DIG-T turbopetrol engine delivers 85kW and 190Nm. The fuel consumption is claimed 5.6 litres/100km, so the new 1.2 is 0.6litre/100km better and efficient than the normal 1.6 that replaced it. The 1.6 DIG-T develops 110kW and 240Nm.


Looking at the diesel power, the 1.5-litre dCi diesel produces 108bhp of peak power and is claimed as the most fuel-efficient among all the range while the 1.6-litre dCi diesel produces 128bhp of peak power.

 

 

 

Some Safety Measures:


These includes front collision avoidance, driver attention support, traffic sign recognition, intelligent park assist, automatic braking and moving object detection and to increase the comfort a system called active ride control system is included.


The engine lineup for the South African model will be confirmed near to its launch date, around mid  2014.
