Month by month the Department of Trade and Industry releases a report on the new car sales and display the list of top ten seller in passenger car segment in South Africa.
Due to the massive strikes that occurred in the automobile sector the overall industry sales dropped down by 4.6% to 50 806 number of vehicles in the past month compared to the same month a year ago - according to Naamsa.
Almost every company had submitted their sales figure except Hyundai and Kia. And Mercedes again gave the detailed sales data.
Let us take a look at the list and get an idea that who topped this time. Finally Toyota Etios has grabbed away the top position with the sales figure of 2591 cars followed by Volkswagen Polo Vivo with a little lower sales having its 2377 cars running on roads.
At third place comes the Volkswagen Polo who sold 1618 cars and Toyota Fortuner securing the fourth position with a better improvement in sales than last month and sold 1264 cars. It was found at ninth place last month as it only able to sell 710 cars. This was a big jump!!!!!
The Ford Figo holds the fifth position with its 1172 cars sold , Mercedes sold 1080 cars and holds the sixth position and the seventh place is occupied by Toyota Corolla/Auris having the sales figure of 849 cars successfully driven.
With 670 cars being sold, Volkswagen Golf 7 anyhow managed its position to be in top ten and fitted its wheels at the eighth position. While the BMW 3 Series failed to occupy the same fifth position as this time it sold only 662 cars and is thrown back to ninth position. And finally the Ford Fiesta with lowest sells of 602 is swinging at the tenth place.
This time Chev’s spark missed the chance to be in the list.
